Did You Know?
Every spring, members of all four of the accounting clubs of Rutgers Business School–Newark and New Brunswick (the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting, the National Asian-American Society of Accountants, the National Association of Black Accountants, and the Rutgers Accounting Society) participate in the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs. Volunteers, who receive training from the IRS to help prepare basic tax returns, staff tax preparation clinics held in senior centers, libraries, schools, and shopping malls. The program helps low-income and elderly residents all over the city of Newark and surrounding communities to prepare their tax returns.
