Federal Funding]
The federal government is the nation’s largest sponsor of university financial aid and research, providing nearly $400 million to Rutgers annually. This includes:

Federal Student Aid – Making a Rutgers Education Possible
Nearly half of Rutgers students depend on federal student aid programs, such as Pell Grants and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG), and various federal loan and work-study programs. Without this financial support, most of these students would not be able to attend Rutgers. Unfortunately, federal funding for student aid has barely grown over the past five years.

For more information on financial aid programs, see the Office of Federal Relations’ Financial Aid website.

A Vital Investment – Federal Funding for Research at Rutgers
The federal government is the prime sponsor of basic research that yields the building blocks of tomorrow’s discoveries. Federal funding to Rutgers researchers not only advances the frontiers of knowledge, but provides undergraduate and graduate students with cutting-edge educational opportunities.
